You've probably seen Lake Como Park in Fort Worth, Texas. The park offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside. If you want to spend a few days at the park, it's easy to do. If you are more interested in an amusement park and water attraction, however, it may be a little bit more difficult to get into the park. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to access the park from your home.
One of the best ways to get to the park is to use the road. Starting at the south end of town, you can take a left onto Loop Road South. A few short miles later, you will come to Lake Como Park. Set on Lake Como, this scenic park has tennis & basketball courts, boat ramps, as well as picnic areas. There are also restrooms, grills, boat launches, as well as concession stands. For the water enthusiast, there are boat ramps on the south end of Lake Como that will allow you to sightsee and explore the waters of the lake.
A few blocks to the south of the park is the Fort Worth Stockyards. Here you will find a meat and poultry market, a gift and antique shop, and other shops. Across the street from Lake Como Park in Fort Worth is the Peridian Pavilion. Built in 1963, the pavilion was designed by prominent architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It offers sweeping panoramas of the landscape surrounding Fort Worth and the Texas panoramas outside the park. The pavilion sits on the upper end of Lake Como and overlooks the downtown area.
As you near downtown Fort Worth, you will pass through several attractions. Two of the most popular attractions are the William P. Henry Water Tank and the Wild Water Wilderness State Park. At the Water Tank, you can view fish and at the Wild Water Wilderness State Park, you can view a natural hot springs swimming pool and play in the hot springs. You will also pass through a zoo, a nature preserve, shopping centers, a bar, restaurants, and a hotel. Other attractions include the Ringling circus, the Fort Hood Museum of Art, and the Laredo Historical Association.
To the north, about five miles to the west of the park is Lake Como itself. In this area of Fort Worth, you will see the beautiful Lake Como Country Club and the stunning Wild Water Wilderness State Park. Lake Como itself offers activities such as boating, swimming, hiking, fishing, wildlife watching, and bicycling.
The area between downtown Fort Worth and the new century lake Como area is called Arlington. This area is vibrant with bars, restaurants, and other establishments. The downtown area, as well as the touristy areas downtown and Arlington, are within walking distance of many of the park's attractions. Arlington is also home to the Arlington Mansion, one of the country's most elegant historic homes.
A ride along the park's boardwalk and an evening at one of its many restaurants can truly give you a unique experience. You can spend a fun day exploring the park and experiencing all that it has to offer while staying in style.
